Being in college is like being in your own little world. We of course have smart phones and TV's, but it's easy to get so wrapped up in classes and life that you forget that there is a whole world happening outside campus.
Enter The Skimm.
The Skimm is an email newsletter that summarizes the most important headlines from around the world. When you sign up, you get an email every morning around 8am that fills you in on everything a young adult needs to know to stay up to date on current events. Though some of the headlines are taken directly from the original news source, many of them are original and funny.
Each email starts with a quote of the day. A quote this past week for example was about when Al Roker attempted to do the weather for 34 hours straight to break the world record for longest weather forecast, which they appropriately named a "Rokerthon". From there, the email fills you in with international news, titled "Things That Happened Far Away", followed by "Repeat After Me", which is a section typically about just general news with witty headlines. For example: a summary of the security breach by the State Government was introduced with the headline "What to Say When you Accidentally Click on an Email from a Nigerian Prince...". Clever, right?
So if you're looking for a new way to get your news and show off to your friends/parents/coworkers how worldy and aware you are, The Skimm is for you! Subscription is free, and it takes just around 5 minutes to get all the news you will need for the day. So what are you waiting for? Get Skimming!
