Everyone has stories, but they're different.
Through six words, a story can be told that can leave you feeling speechless. Six-Word Memoirs® from SMITH Magazine started a project that has turned into a series of books and has become a global phenomenon. Larry Smith came up with the idea after talking to his grandfather and after inspiration from Ernest Hemingway. People from all over the world write their thoughts, their stories, their secrets and more in just six words. No more, no less. It's amazing. You pick up one of these books, read a page, and can laugh, gasp and frown all at once.
I'm a middle school teacher and for a project, we had the students finish the year off by writing their own Six Words. The words could be any type of story, based off their identity. I learned so much about my students just by reading their six words. It's amazing what you can learn about a person, just by reading six words.
Naturally, I wanted to write my own too. It's only fair, right?
Since I have so many stories and there are many parts to me, I decided to write a couple six word stories. So here are a couple different combinations of Six Words to explain my story.
Short in reality, but tall personality.
"You're half Puerto Rican? You sure?"
Sweatpants are life, I hate jeans.
My dad left me, I'm okay?
Hate my body, but I'm trying.
Two younger sisters, both taller though.
Still young, but afraid of future.
Hundreds of kids, all my students.
My dad chose alcohol, I won't.
My family is the loud one.
Love's lame, I still want it?.
Teaching will forever be my passion!
My single mom did totally amazing.
Fighting often but always loving them.
Dad was like a superhero, was.
Constant struggle to loving my body.
Living alone is a real struggle.
Once a gull, always a gull.
So here are mine, what are your six words?
