Physical strength will only get you so far. The body has its limits. The majority of the battle is won upstairs, in your mind. The mindset you have when approaching a task ultimately determines the outcome. Here are six tips to help you create unwavering mental toughness.
1. Be Incredibly Confident
Your mind is always in control. If you believe that you are capable, then you are right. You don’t know your limits until you truly max yourself out, so until then, there is no reason to set the bar low. Approach every task with unshakable confidence.
2. Accept That Failure Will Come
Oftentimes it is the fear of failure that prevents us from performing to our full potential. But guess what, you cannot avoid failure forever. At some point, you will fail, and if you are able to accept this, you will no longer be afraid, and it will no longer hold you back. Be fearless in your endeavours and you will never be disappointed.
3. Learn to Love the Process
A goal may seem very far away when you think about what it takes to reach it. It will be hard, it will make you tired, but it is the only way to reach that goal. The process is inevitable, so do yourself a favor and learn to enjoy it. At some point, it will end.
4. Envision Your Future Self
Who is the person you want to create? Are they a quitter? Are they a coward? Of course not. Put yourself in your future shoes, and consider how you may reflect on your past self. You will always regret not living up to your potential. Don’t disappoint the person you are trying to create; make them proud of the work you accomplished.
5. Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing
Moderation is for cowards. Don’t be a coward. If you have set aside time to accomplish something, you might as well make it something to be proud of. Pride is a pretty amazing feeling.
6. Always Remain Positive
If you think, speak, and act in a positive manner it will, in turn, build your confidence. Make yourself big. Tower over the competition. Protect your mind from negative thoughts like a mother bear protects her cubs. They are a virus, a poison. Never let them tear you down.
