Six Tips For Spring Break

Spring break is finally around the corner. I haven’t had much luck in going on a nice trip for spring break the past few years, but this year I plan on doing something other than going back to my hometown. From my experience, I have complied a list of tips to help you make the most of your spring break.

1. Go somewhere where you have family.

Most college students do not have money to go to a nice extravagant place. We don’t save our money because we need it for expensive textbooks and food. If you want to go on a trip try to go somewhere you have family that way you can save money on a hotel room. A hotel for six nights can add up to a lot of money. You will be doing your wallet a favor by staying with family and saving the rest of your money for food and activities.

2. Don’t wait until your last year of college.

Do not be like me and wait for your final year of college to do something for spring break. Take any opportunity that you have to go on a trip no matter how small it is. You are only young once. You will never have this opportunity again to enjoy spring break at the ages from 18 to 21.

3. Binge watching is a must.

Let’s be honest, if you have Netflix you already binge watch shows all the time. This happens most when you are supposed to be doing your work. Spring break gives you the chance to not feel bad for binge watching for a whole week. You do not have any work to worry about, so go ahead and watch ten hours of "Gossip Girl" or "A Different World." I will not judge you.

4. Sleep is essential.

I have lost so much sleep these past few weeks. I can’t wait for a week of sleeping in. I challenge you to sleep in at least an extra hour. You’re going to thank me when finals week come.

5. If you an over achiever (like me), get ahead.

Although I plan on sleeping and binge watching my current shows, I do plan on doing homework over the break. I will not be able to relax knowing that I have two papers due when I get back from break. If I knock those papers out early on during break I can have more time to relax during break. I want to come back from break with a sense of relaxation not stress.

6. Enjoy your break.

The most important tip would be to enjoy yourself. As I said earlier, you are only young once so enjoy spring break. As you get older spring break will mean something different to everyone. Take the time to do something you really want to do.

Have a great spring break!

Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
