College is a big step for everyone. With so many changes occurring at once, it's easy to get caught up in hiding away in your dorm room. Here are 7 things you should make sure to do your Freshman year of College:

1. Get Involved

This can take a bit of courage, but it is important that you become involved at your school. Join a frat or a sorority, or a club. Go to those silly little game nights held in the cafeteria. It will actually turn out to be a good time, and you will end up meeting so many new people this way!

2. Take an Extra Class or Two

If you hold an interest for something other than your major that you are unsure of, take an extra class or two in relation to that area of study. This will help you determine whether or not you have made the right decision for you future. Remember, just because you start out somewhere in college does not mean you have to stick with that same area! Changes in majors occur for most new college students.

3. Sleep As Much As You Can

The idea of college in itself is exhausting. Although you are a dedicated student by day, don't forget to take care of yourself. It is so easy to get caught up in cramming for that exam, or hanging out with your friends, that you don't get enough sleep. Sleep is best medicine for a young college student!

4. Go Out With Your Friends

Don't get me wrong. It is extremely important to focus on academics while you are in school. But, it can't always be strictly business. Don't be afraid to go out with your group of friends and have a great time every once in a while. You're working so hard, you deserve it!

5. Binge Watch Netflix

There are so many educational documentaries available. Let's not forget American Horror Story or One Tree Hill. This is one of the best ways to relax and enjoy the little bit of free time that you have.

6. Be Best Friends With Your Roommate

Too often we hear horror stories of roommates and how they hate each other and can't get along. Don't be those people. Love your roommate. Make time for each other and have fun together. After all, you're stuck with each other for the next year. It's important that you make the best of it.

7. Eat Well

Trust me. I get it. The cafeteria food is awful, and the few restaurant choices you have aren't the best either. But it is so important to eat well and stay healthy, especially throughout your first year of college. You are going through a huge change, and your body could react to this negatively.

College is meant to be the most stressful, yet fun years of your life. The first one is always the hardest. If you make, which you will, you'll be all set to get on with your future. Study hard, eat well, and take care of yourself. It will all be worth it in the end.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
