By the time this article publishes, finals will be over and I'll be working for another week then heading home for a well-deserved break. After a semester that wrecked my life like no other, I want myself back. I let school and responsibilities crush my spirit and completely ruin my sense of self. I know I'm not the only one in this situation, so below are six ways to get yourself back after a rough semester.

1. Sleep.

Let's be honest. After finals, everyone needs about three days off to just lay in bed and sleep. Do it! Sure, there's really no way to actually "catch up" on sleep. But it still feels good to try. And it's definitely the best way to recharge and get your old energy back.

2. Work out.

You have time now so there's no excuse not to. If you're anything like me, working out is your absolute worst nightmare on break but it will help you feel better. Not only will your body actually feel better, but you'll feel better about yourself and before you know it, you'll start to feel like your normal, happy self again. And it can't hurt to start a healthy habit while you can.

3. Be creative.

Okay, maybe this is just for me but being creative can be very therapeutic. It feels good to create things, and I personally haven't had time to do so at all this semester. Get back in your groove and make the things that make you happy. Now that you don't have to focus on homework, you can focus on doing the things that actually make you happy.

4. Plan out next semester.

Not that I want anyone to have to think about school while they're on break, but this is probably my most important advice. If you don't want to feel as lost and broken next semester, it'll help to organize yourself for next year. Buy a cute planner and copy down the dates from your upcoming syllabi (in pencil just in case they change) and worry a little less about what you're going to do when the spring semester starts.

5. Watch Netflix... and don't feel bad.

There were a ton of great shows uploaded to Netflix in December, and you probably didn't have time to watch them. Even if you did it was probably a quick study break with all of your assignments sitting in the back of your head. Take the time now and enjoy being able to watch Netflix guilt-free.

6. Eat and eat well.

Develop another healthy habit! After a semester of only having time to eat ramen, make nice meals. It might be more tempting to just eat whatever you want, but it'll be a lot better to eat things that you know are good for you so that you can start to feel better.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
