6 Series You Will Want To Sink Your Teeth Into

According to a study done by the Pew Research Center, 80% of Americans read occasionally for pleasure. I have been reading every since I can remember reading books ranging from "Harry Potter" to various Nora Roberts books. Here are some book series you will "sink your teeth" into.

1. "House of Night"

I never imagined liking this series, but throughout the 12 books and four novellas, an insane amount of crazy events occur. Zoey Redbird is marked as a vampyre and has to leave her family and friends behind and start her new life at the House of Night. It is not long before she discovers that she is not like the other fledgings and has a long road ahead of her to make things right. This series combines ancient Cherokee legends and the rules of the vampyre society, creating an excellent story.

2. "Fifty Shades"

This series isn't all about dirty, kinky sex. The underlying story is what makes the three book series worth reading. Follow Anastasia and Christian as they discover that their relationship shouldn't be just about what happens in the bedroom. This dramatic series will keep you on your toes as you learn about Christian's past.

3. "Harry Potter"

Okay if you haven't read the series yet, get off your butt, go to Barnes and Noble and purchase them. This series is magical and filled with many adventures that you don't want to miss out on. If you haven't jumped on the Hogwarts Express train yet, you need to. Follow Harry as he goes from living under the stairs to discovering how special he really is. This remarkable story is something you don't want to miss.

4. "Twilight"

If you haven't chosen "team Edward" or "team Jacob" then you need to read the series and pick one. This cultivating story will always keep you wanting more as you follow Edward, Bella and Jacob through their love triangle. Oh and did I mention that Edward is a vampire, Bella is a human and Jacob is a werewolf? Talk about major drama.

5. "Inkheart"

Have you ever read a book out loud only to find that everything you were reading was coming true? It is a pretty cool experience for everyone except for Meggie when she discovers that her mother is trapped inside of a book. This three book series is one that you don't want to miss. Especially when Meggie's dad reads a book aloud to find that evil has appeared in their living room. Yikes.

6. "Maze Runner"

James Dashner wrote some amazing novels about kids who are trapped in a maze. This thrilling series will have you feeling all kinds of emotions as you follow the kids on an incredible journey to expose the people who trapped them in the maze and make sure that they are the last ones.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
