6 Reasons Humans Are Beautiful

I was looking around today. I saw many unfamiliar faces. In fact, I only knew five or the people that I was with. As I was watching, I was in awe of the beauty of human beings. I don't mean a physical beauty, but a universal beauty. This is the beauty of our race- the human race. No matter who you look at, their smile will shine the brightest when they laugh, their eyes will light up brilliantly when they are talking about their passions, and their heart will ache when there is mention of a passed loved one. This is the universal beauty of humans.

1. Humans are individualistic.

The cliché is that "everyone is different, unique, and one-of-a-kind." But think about it! Out of all the people that live on this wonderful planet, there will never be someone exactly like you. Everything that you have, everything that you do, everything that you are is yours and yours alone. No one will think like you do and dress like you do and live like you do and work like you do. Everything that you do represents the essence of you. That is something that people may attempt to copy but will never succeed at. There is only one original. You are the original you.

2. Humans are versatile.

Humans can adapt to any situation. People living in different areas of the world prove this every day. Not only can humans physically adapt, but they are both emotionally and mentally flexible. We can bend, but we never truly break. If we break, we die. Sometimes we get so bent out of shape that it takes a while to return to how we were before. While other times we never go back to how we were before. But we keep going, no matter what. Humans almost always keep going in one form or another.

3. Humans produce a love stronger than evil.

We see this on the news constantly. You know what I mean: the horrors of a mass shooting, or perhaps the pedophile who finally got locked up for repeatedly raping a neighborhood child. Those type of things. Here’s the thing, if we stop looking at the monstrosities of this world, we’ll be able to see the beauty of it as well. Humans love, care, and look out for one another more than they hurt others. It’s just like the old saying going, “It takes 100 compliments to forget about the one insult.” The world demonstrates this principle exceedingly well. We simply get distracted by the outlandish behaviors of the wicked. There are far more nice humans than mean humans. However, by being aware of all the corruption in the world, we can have a greater understanding of the depths humans love, which is truly dazzling.

4. Humans live.

This is not the cliché: eat, sleep, breathe, repeat, live. This is experiences, dreams, desire, and dedication. Humans go after life full force. This varies from person to person. Some people want a simple life with a loyal spouse, a good family, and a nice house. Others seek adventure, or wild love, or higher education, or a plethora of things! All I know is I see humans time and time again going after what they want. They live life to the fullest. Humans are ambitious always working hard to get to where they want to go knowing it won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.

5. Humans feel.

It has been said countless times that if you don’t feel you’re not human. That is not true. You have feelings, some idiot simply told you having them wasn’t ok. That or something happened in your life that made you bury those feelings. If so, they will come back with time, good friends, and learning to love yourself again. Humans are beautiful because there is such an array of emotions. Even not feeling is a feeling. When charted, feelings are put in a circle because they all have some kind of connection to one another. Just like all emotions are related to one another, humans relate to each other through them as well. It is universal; it is not something that can be taught. Feeling is one of the core components of being human.

6. Humans are a mystery.

Oddly enough this is a complaint amongst most of my generation. People yearn to be known, but I believe the real beauty of humans is being a mystery. Everyone you see, everyone you meet, everyone you have ever known has loved something, lost something, and been hurt by something. There are different levels of knowing someone. There are few people who truly, fully know you. Then there are a lot of other people who know different parts of you. To fully know someone is beautiful, but to also be left a mystery is equally as beautiful.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
