6 Combinations To Be Grateful For

Nothing else matters and you're stuck in a moment of bliss.

6 Combinations To Be Grateful For

People always say that it's the little things in life to be the most thankful for. As I look at the world, there are plenty of things that this life gives us that are so perfect, nothing can compare. Like sitting outside over covered steps listening to the rain fall, or green apple shampoo and salty, beach wind-whipped hair. There are few things I enjoy more than one of those perfect combinations, so here are six of the best to give you a little something to be thankful for this week.

1. Sleeping and the rain

Regardless of falling asleep or waking up to the rain, nothing is quite like that calming pitter patter. The immediate world around you goes quiet for a little bit, and you can just sit there in the dim grey light that surrounds you in utter bliss. Also, I'm under the impression that when it is raining, one sleeps better.

2. A bath and clean sheets

What makes this combination perfect is the total cleanliness. There is nothing dirty or disturbing. The freshness in this scenario makes you feel unstoppable.

3. The ocean and an outdoor shower

The beauty in this is that there's so little man-made structure to this. It's the perfect summertime pairing. I'm also convinced that everyone feels cleaner after an outdoor shower. Why? I don't really have the answer for that, but being surrounded by the fresh air is bound to make anyone feel better.

4. Nighttime and a misty drive

One of my favorite times of night is when there is that misty fog that lingers right over the road. You get out and it is a little bit sticky and warm, but totally peaceful. Driving through this can certainly be a pain at times, but it's beautiful in it's own sense. Where the world around you is just settling down for the night, much like yourself.

5. A cozy blanket and cup of tea

A cozy blanket on its own could be a perfect combination, but sitting next to a warm fire with some tea all curled up is one of the biggest pros to the fast-approaching cold weather.

6. Leaves falling and a scarf

While the cold is not everyone's favorite type of weather, everyone can appreciate a crisp fall day. Especially in New England. When the red, orange and yellow leaves fall and you're wrapped up nice and snug in a scarf, it makes the dropping temperatures a bit more bearable.

There are certainly plenty more of these perfect pairings that we humans sometimes don't deserve. But these are the moments when technology and whatever is going on in your life at the time doesn't matter, and you can sit there in true happiness for at least a minute and realize how truly blessed you are.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
