For The Inner Child In Us All!

Six Cartoons You Gotta Watch Now!
US News

A growing trend as of late has been the nurturing of our "inner child." Some people just don't like growing up which doesn't mean they stress out after hearing the word responsibility but that their imagination, curiosity and attraction to bright colors was never snuffed out by our color-blind society. Nevertheless, for my men and women adult children of the world, here is a list of excellent cartoon shows for anyone of any age to enjoy!

Disclaimer: This list isn't formatted in any way to favor one show over the other!

1. Rick & Morty

A show about a beyond super-intelligent grandfather looking to just spend time with his grandson. What can go wrong? A lot does as they travel through dimensions and space in an episodic fashion. This show alludes to a lot of philosophical ideas about existence as well as heavy scientific references. At the end of every dark-humor filled episode, you'll feel like you've learned something like a new zingy catchphrase coined by Rick.

2. Young Justice

If you're a fan of DC superheroes, comics or animation then this is your show to go watch. If you're not, this is still your show to watch. Young Justice is composed of the "sidekicks" of the main superheroes as they learn to work together or, stay alive and complete their missions. It feels as though they put everything they got into the first two seasons since both heroes and villains from everywhere make some kind of appearance. Expect great and dramatic storytelling that spans over the whole series. Netflix just confirmed season 3 is being made so catch up while you can!

3. Adventure Time

The show follows the ultimate bromance between the last human on Earth named Finn and his elastic, talking dog named Jake. Together they go on adventure through both time and space as you the viewer slowly piece together how the Earth developed an enormous hole in it and came to be called "Ooo." The characters are all so easy to relate to and there are many instances in the show where the characters just speak the honest truth.

4. Steven Universe

A young boy is half-human and half-gem, a crystal being that is superhuman and whose form is pure-light. What makes this show great is the music, storytelling and key elements of being a Gem such as fusion. There are also many mysteries that still need to be uncovered as the creators slowly show the story in each episode such as: How did Steven come to exist? How did Rose shatter Pink Diamond? What does White Diamond look like? None of this has been revealed yet but if you can sift through the first chunk of the season you are in for one hell of a story!

5. Star vs The Forces of Evil

A young princess inherits her own wand that does pretty much whatever she wants it to. What makes this show great is the sort of role-reversal between Star and Marco without sacrificing the characters full potential. Marco is definitely the side kick but he can still keep up with Star as they verse the Forces of Evil... see what I did there?

6. Bravest Warriors

The same people who made Adventure Time made this thing of beauty. A bunch of teenage battle warriors go through adventures helping people and fighting baddies. There are a few sub-plots occurring throughout the seasons and it is relatively easy to watch. Each season is only about an hour long so by all means enjoy this slightly more adulterated Cartoon Network style program.

7. Troll Hunters

If you arrre (watch the show) a fan of Guillermo De Toro in any way, you're in for a great experience seeing as though he had input into almost very aspect of this show. It follows a great progression style of storytelling of a young teenage boy inducted into a society of trolls as their protector. There are great dynamics between the characters and surprising choices that leave you somewhat baffled. I for one did not expect the ending to be the way it was and to be honest am slowly looking forward to season 2 whenever it comes out!

Again, these aren't listed in any particular fashion so do yourself the favor and watch these shows! They're awesome but be careful because a couple of them may not be suitable for actual children!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
