What is Sivada's Cupcakery?

Sivada's Cupcakery was formed in 2008 by Alex Davis, now the top man of the company. When asked, Alex stated, "My wife and I would come home every night and put our son to bed. I would bake from about 8 to midnight every night until I formed 12 cupcake recipes that I had perfected." Alex opened his first shop in the Riverside/Avondale area. 2 shops are currently being run, the other being in Fleming Island. Over time, like any business, ideas were made and new recipes were created. Sivada's is now a local favorite and anyone who lives in the area will gladly tell you so.

Creating Delicious

"Creating a new flavor/design for a cupcake can take anywhere between a few hours, to a few weeks," says Alex. Currently Sivada's offers over 40 delicious cupcakes to choose from- you'd be surprised how hard it is just to choose 1! To name a few of the favorites, Sivada's offers a Creme Brulee, Tiramisu, Cheesecake, Wedding Cake, Orange Dreamsicle, Boston Cream and so many more delicious flavors. Naming the cupcakes was an easy deal for Alex. He stated that so many other shops were going all out with names. Alex saw the beauty in simplicity and now, so do hundreds of his customers.

Why choose a business with cupcakes?

At the time Alex opened his first shop in Avondale, the cupcake business was booming. Alex stated, "I wanted to start a shop because I knew the business was good, but I felt like I could take it to the next level, I felt that my cupcakes had so much potential!" Alex then dove right in and started his cupcakery. Alex states that his next goal is to franchise, opening up around 200 shops. The more the merrier!

Sivada's? What does that mean?

The name Alex chose was not the original name for the shop. The original name was actually "Vanilla Cakes." While the shop was up and running ready to open, Alex decided that he needed a more original name- just like his cupcakes. The name "Sivada's" was actually thought of by Alex's sister. At first, Alex had no idea what that meant. If you spell Sivada's backwards, it actually translates to A DAVIS. Again, here is the beauty in simplicity.

These cupcakes sound awesome, so they must cost a fortune!

"We are the shop that you would imagine seeing walking down a main street in New York City, we have the high-end look, without the high-end prices." Sivada's Cupcakery offers 3 different categories for cupcakes at the moment: traditional, traditionally filled, and specialty. All 3 categories are priced under $3.50 per cupcake. You can't beat that!

When you walk in the shop, the smell hits you. You must be dreaming! Every kind of cupcake that day is on display in our cases and the hardest decision you will have to make is choosing which kind you would like to take home. Sivada's offers boxes for 1, 2, 4, 6, and 12. No matter how many you need, they aim to please! Sivada's puts the delicious in the palm of your hand, and they can't wait to see you walk in the shop door!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
