8 Black Sitcoms From The 90s That We Can't Seem To Forget

Growing up as a kid was not always the easiest or the most fun, BUT childhood television shows that debuted during the 1990's sometimes had that effect of "ease" and "comfort." Those T.V shows are the ones that were family-oriented, acquired some levels of comedy, and portrayed scenes of family and friend struggles and surpassing such struggles.

The difference between television shows today and back during the 90's involves "concept." T.V shows today tend to have no fluid or no real effect on society, while shows during the 90's actually pandered their audiences and displayed acts of real social issues within homes, schools, and between different relationships as a child and as an adult.

As a child, I noticed there were more television sitcoms that adhered to the African American community. We were able to see black family struggles, black strength, black unconditional love and black art as a whole. These television sitcoms are what represented black culture.

Here's a small, yet fruitful list of the must-watch, never gets old, should be re-debuted if possible, television shows of the 1990's:

Moesha (1996)

We all loved Mo', whether it was because she had all the guys, always broke her parents' rules, or her poetry. Who loved Hakeem? Lol. He never

went home unless it was to sleep and he was constantly yearning for a meal. Who misses Andell being extremely anxious to find a man? Ha!

The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air (1990)

Hands down, this show was comedy! Will always pissed Uncle Phil off, Carlton always became nervous when a beautiful girl came around, and Hillary was just so clueless!

Martin (1992)

"Mawtie Maw." Lol. Martin and Gina never gets old. Their relationship was fluid, loving, compassionate, real, complicated, and so on. And lets not forget that Martin repped (H-U You knowww

) in one of the episodes. Shanaynay added flavor the show as well. Martin was a fool to even play such a role, but it had every fan dying of laughter every time she came around. Martin Lawrence seems like he's pretty good at playing other creative roles because his acting skills are phenomenal...to date!

Sister, Sister(1994)

I think everyone loved the fact that the show was based on twin sisters...in real life

. I personally liked Tia more because I was more like her...smart and always into getting some homework done. Tamera was more on the wild side which kept the show funny. Roger, on the other hand...the kid could not stay away from the twins. Go home roger!

The Steve Harvey Show (1996)

Steve Harvey, eh? This show was a classic to everyone who knows it. Mista Hightower was his name. Lol. Romeo always wanted the women and Cedric the Entertainer was just always a clown inanything

he starred in.

The Wayan Bros (1995)

Who can deny the fact that the Wayans brothers...in real life

...can create that environment of humor in EVERY series or movie they star in? Shawn and Marlon know how to get their audience crackin' up!

The Jamie Foxx Show (1996)

Who doesn't love Jamie Foxx? I mean...to date. I would say the best moments of this show involved Jamie King (Foxx's role) running a hotel with his uncle; however, during his time there, we find Jamie King fighting to get the attention of Fancy, the front desk attendant...Ladies, we all know how funny, and sometimes cute, it is for a man to chase a woman...in the darnest ways.

The Parkers (1999)

Lets not get started with Kim. She made

this show. Her role of playing clueless was mastered! Anyone disagree? I could name a few episodes that was undeniably funny, but they all were funny...literally.

Rest in Paradise to all of our fallen angels who worked hard to help make these 90's TV shows the legacies they are today:

Moesha:

1. Ohagi A.K.A Merlin Santana (2002) (starred in The Steve Harvey Show, playing the role of "Romeo")

2. Hakeem Campbell A.K.A Artius Lamont Bentley (2005)

3. Uncle Bernie A.K.A Bernie Mac (2008) (also co-starred in The Parkers, playing the role of "Uncle Bernie")

4. Andell A.K.A Yvette Wilson (2012) (also starred in The Parkers as "Andell")

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air:

1. Phillip Banks A.K.A James Avery (2013)

The Wayans Bros:

1. "White Mike" A.K.A Mitch Mullany (2008)

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
