If you’ve read, watched, or even heard of Ann Brashares’ The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, you’re probably familiar with the concept: Four high school friends find a pair of pants that fit them each perfectly. Then they use the pants as their medium of sharing important life events—they send it in the mail to each other, and each stain, scribble, or speck of dirt keeps the memories in the pants.
My high school friend group ranges from a height of five feet flat to six feet and some odd inches. There was zero chance a pair of pants would fit each of us as spectacularly as Brashares would like readers to believe.
Enter Kevin Sleepybear.
Brashares found pants to be the best piece of living, growing nostalgia, but Kevin fits our friends in his own unique way. Plus, he flies with only three forever stamps and a six by nine-inch envelope—definitely less than the price of a FedEx box. I'd never had thought that a stuffed animal could be so important to me beyond my preteen years, but Kevin has proven otherwise!
