I stumbled upon a novel called "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."
I dismissed the novel amongst the hundreds amidst the brown library bookshelves.
Months later, I stumbled upon the title again. A movie.
I decided to give the movie a try. I know the majority of books turned into movies don't quite make the cut for me.
After I watched "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", I was left with tears, laughter, and admiration.
The story is about four best friends named Bridget, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby. All four of them discover a pair of jeans which magically fits them. They take turns and share the pair of jeans over the course of their summer break.
I've always wondered if a friendship like Bridget, Carmen, Lena, and Tibby 's exists.
I've had friends come and go. These friendships share a common trend.
The friendship doesn't last. These friendships slowly fade into oblivion over time.
Don't get me wrong, some friendships I've made back in elementary school still continue to this day. Unfortunately, a majority cease to exist.
At 17 years old, I still haven't found a friendship like the four girls in the book. I have a couple of really close friends I still keep in touch with, but something about their friendship blows my mind.
Yes, it's a fiction book and all, but I do believe these kinds of friendships exist. It is so mind blowing to meet someone who shares not one, not two, but three (and more!) similarities with you.
I see the friendship as a magical bond between one another. This may seem ridiculous, but I believe a "magical friendship" exists.
This brings me to an unbelievable discovery in my first few weeks of college at St. Edward's University.
The start of the
The friendship began in the common area of our residence hall, East. Whether it was destiny, fate, or some sort of alignment of stars, an instant bond formed between us.
The "A Quad" consists of four freshman girls. All of our names start with an A.
Oddly enough, three of us have the same name. There is Andrea Montes, Andrea Nicole Gecosala or Nicole, Alondra Alcala, and me(Andrea Gonzales).
Our names might be the reason why we became close, but our friendship gets weirder as we get to know each other.
Alondra, Andrea, and Nicole all have brothers named Juan.
Andrea and I used to have the same laptop.
Alondra and I have the same exact letter A necklace.
Alondra and Andrea both speak Spanish while Nicole and I are proficient in conversational French.
The list goes on.
Each day we uncover a similarity or coincidence which makes me believe more about a "magical friendship".
I treasure the crazy moments we share and the upcoming adventures we will take in the next four years.
