Sisterhood Is...

I wear my letters on the front because, I know my sisters always have my back.

Sisterhood Is...
Coe College Greek Life

"People ask why I am in a sorority and I try to explain all the things a sorority is that they cannot see. A sorority is more than just letters on a sweatshirt, I say. More than traditional songs, a gold pin, rituals, an obligation, or a way of life. A sorority is learning about people, a sorority is giving without expecting a return. A sorority is earning respect from others, as well as for yourself. A sorority will not solve all your problems. But I have made good friends and found confidence there to help me take life one step at a time." - Unknown

Joining a sorority when I came to college was, and is, the best decision of my college career. I would not of been able to make it through these past couple of weeks, let alone this year, without my sisters. I am ever so thankful for each and every one of them every day. Here are some examples of what sisterhood truly is, but first...

Sisterhood does notmean wearing the same letters. Some of my very best friends are in different sororities but that does not change a thing, I still consider them to be my sisters. Panhellenic love and friendship is just as strong as the bonds of sisterhood.

So sisterhood is...

1. How you can find your best friend(s).

2. Or your future bridesmaids.

3. Having a family that isn't blood-related.

4. About loyalty; being there for one another through thick and thin.

5. Being there for your sisters, when they feel like no one else is.

6. Having a constant support system.

7. Having people to joke with and a solid audience to always laugh with (or pretend to laugh at) your terrible jokes.

8. Allows you to take risks because you'll always have someone to catch you if you fall.

9. Having someone there for you on Friday nights who is still there on Saturday mornings.

10. Always having someone to order a late night pizza with.

11. You always have someone there to help you take the perfect profile picture.

12. Always having a shoulder to cry on.

13. Always having someone to vent to.

14. Having an unbreakable bond.

15. Having your friends follow you on first dates to make sure that you are doing okay.

16. Walking across campus and getting at least five "hellos" from sisters.

17. Not only for four years, but for life.

18. You always have someone to inspire you and push you to be better.

19. Being able to talk to your sisters about anything without feeling judged.

20. Having a group of people who accept you for everything you are.

21. With just three letters, I am connected to hundreds of other sisters around the world.

To my sisters: I love each and every one of you. You are all special girls who make our chapter so wonderfully unique. I am proud to say that you are all my sisters.

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
