To My Soul Sister, Seasons Change, But We Never Do

Nothing is stronger than our friendship.

For the past 14 years, our friendship has been the one thing I've been sure of, because like you always say, the seasons change, but we never do.

You are so much more than a best friend.

You're truly my sister and it hurts me to even try to imagine life without you.

You're there when I want you and you're there when I don't, but that's what comes with having you as a big sister. Even though we bicker and annoy each other, if I could spend every day with you I absolutely would.

You make the good times great and the bad times not so bad.

You're the only person in this world I'm comfortable crying around, and when I feel like I don't have anywhere to go you remind me that your home is mine too.

You bring out the best in me and because of you I love who I am.

You're the reason my dreams are so big. You've always believed in me, even when I assure you I have no idea what I'm doing. Knowing I have your support with everything I do gives me the strength to keep pushing myself.

When I think of you I think of determination, strength, beauty, intelligence, laughter, love and a good time.

A day spent with you is an adventure in itself, even if we don't ever leave your house.

I have no doubt that we were meant to be in each other's lives, because everything about my life would change if you weren't in it.

I wouldn't know the value of a dollar.

I wouldn't have snarky remarks up my sleeve ready to be fired.

I wouldn't be so ambitious.

I wouldn't have a second home and a second family.

I wouldn't be so confident.

I wouldn't have a maid of honor.

I wouldn't know true, unapologetic sisterhood.

No matter where the future takes us, we'll forever be Em & B, because even though the seasons change, we never do.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
