To The Older Sister I Never Had,

Someone who is supposed to be your lifetime friend, mentor, a partner in crime, therapist, and hero all wrapped up into one person called a sister.

Many people take for granted the fact of having an older sister, but I had to find my own sister within someone-- and I consider myself blessed to have even found one. Lucky for me I got to pick who I wanted as an older sister figure, but if I were to have a real older sister I would want her to be just like you.

When I was younger, I always wanted to have an older sister to look up to. As I got older I realized that you do not have to have the same parents, or in some cases be related by blood, to find a sister within someone. I found my older sister within my cousin. We understand each other, we can be weird together, we fit together like two pieces of a puzzle, and best of all we understand the craziness of our family.

I hold our memories very close to my heart and relay our stories to everyone I know. Spending time with you makes life a more interesting adventure full of laughs and smiles. From the little things like baking funfetti cake to the big things like lifetime milestones, you were always by my side.

We are like two peas in a pod; we fit together. Once we start in no one can stop us. Together we are a crazy pair filled with fun, love, and many laughs.

You are my hero. I look up to you in more ways than you will ever know. You are a beautiful person on the outside and an even more beautiful person on the inside. I can only hope that one day I can be half as great a person as you are. You live out your life to the fullest and dive into everything head first; living life carefree day by day. Whenever I hear you tell me you are proud of me, it warms my heart. It makes me feel as if I am becoming the person I strive to be. Without even knowing, you push me to be all that I can and want to be.

As we get older I find myself realizing how lucky I truly am to have you in my life. We were always close, but now that we have grown and matured, five years does not seem like that big of a difference. Now we can talk about real adult things and passionately converse about life-- alongside being goofy.

Even though we do not get to see each other all that often, the time I do spend with you are the times I hold close to my heart and cherish forever. Without you, I have no clue where I would be.

I count my blessings every day and thank God that I have you in my life. Thank your for being the older sister I never had.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
