First impressions aren't always everything. The first time I met my little sister 18 months after I was born, I decided to stuff a bunch of M&Ms up her nose. Thankfully, she hasn't held that against me (but no promises it won't happen again if she keeps taking my favorite shoes). My little sister was my first friend, she's my favorite person to come home to, and my future maid of honor. Despite the arguments we might have, sisters are forever and there's no changing that.

1. She Always Knows the Right Things to Say

Sisters always know exactly what to say to make you cheer up. Whether it is turning on some good music, going for a ride to Mc Donalds to get a vanilla cone, or just by putting things into perceptive. She always knows how to make your day a little brighter. The best sisters know how to make you laugh when you want to cry.

2. She knows you better than anyone else

You can always count on her to tell you the truth. She knows everything about you. There's no use of hiding the fact that your overly sensitive or a little bit dramatic, she'll call you out. Since there is no use of masking your true feelings around her, you can always count on her to give you best, honest advice.

3. She always forgives

No matter what argument you and your sister may get in to, nothing is too detrimental that is unforgiven. You always know your sister has your best intentions at heart and no matter what you are reminded of that through the smallest or biggest of fights.

4. She's your favorite hello and hardest goodbye

Sisters are your favorite person to come home too. You can truly be your weird, authentic self and count on her to be just as strange as you. Seeing her after a 5-day gap is like a Christmas morning. She's the best person to greet you with a warm hug, happy dance, and smile. Saying goodbye is hard, but you know you'll have memories to last you over until the next time you see each other.

5. She's stuck with you forever

Friends come and go, but sisters are forever. Your sister will never leave, betray, or hurt you. Sisters always have each others' back, and together are a force you don't want to mess with. She's your go-to gal, and your number one. Sisters are the ones that walk in when the rest of the world walks out.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
