All of us who have a younger sister remember the day our parents brought that little demon home, because we were no longer the favorite, and that wouldn’t change. Those more fortunate to be the youngest probably split their time 50-50 between aggravating the crap out of your sister and trying to be just like her. You also probably recall your parents saying, “One day you’ll be best friends,” or, “No one can understand you like your sister,” only to be followed by two sets of eye rolls. Like everything else, though, your parents were right about that. Even though sisters can be the biggest pain in the ass sometimes, we know we couldn’t live without them, because they’re our other half. Here are all the many ways the bond between you and your sister may resemble a long-distance relationship while one or both of you is away at college.
You call them at least five times a week.
When they don’t answer, you keep calling.
There are no personal boundaries.
There are also no standards of appearance.
She's brutally honest.
No one really understands your relationship.
Your inside jokes are also a mystery to everyone else.
And your method of communication, too.
PDA is the norm.
Your fights are worse than reality TV.
But they're forgotten two seconds later.
The words “I miss you” are most used in your vocabulary.
She’s your partner in crime.
No, like she would actually help you commit a felony.
And you know you'd do anything for her.
She can always cheer you up.
Sometimes you want to kill her (or have maybe tried and failed).
But you'll love her forever, no matter what.
Having a sister is like a LDR but so much better. You have more history with her than you ever could with any significant other. You share more experiences than any duo, and you share DNA. A sister can’t break up with you, even if she wanted to (trust me, mine has tried). So thanks to the X sperm that landed me a sister instead of a brother!
