"She's wearing my shirt, AGAIN!" shouts my sister as I walk out the door. There is nothing quite like a sister bond. We want to kill each other, but we would also kill FOR each other. Growing up the big sister is always the boss. Whatever she wants the younger (much more charismatic, and a lot more personable) sister to do, she will do. Now as we have both slowly progressed into adulthood (kind of) I see that nothing changed. My big sis says jump and I say how high. But now I do it because I’ve realized my sister is my best friend.
You're best friend is someone you rely on. Someone who not only protects you, but laughs with you. You can always count on your best friend to go to the bar with you, and lucky for me my sister is all of those things. Our parents always told us not to fight because our siblings will always be there for us when we are older, and as much as it turns my stomach to say, our parents were right. She’s my right-hand man and the Tina Fey to my Amy Poehler. We always have a blast when we are together and I know I can tell her anything.
Leaving my sister to go to school is so hard. Who will I watch Bachelor in Paradise with? (and religiously read Chads absurd tweets to each other). Who will steal my clothes and then try to convince me that they are actually hers? I miss her every day. But I realize now that once I’m out of school the first person I will ask to be my roommate is my sister.
The one to stand next to me on my wedding day, but also the one who I’ll have to calm down on that day because “her dress is ugly” or “the best man tried to hit on her” my amazing wonderful crazy best friend. My Sister.
