12-year-olds are probably the most annoying age group on this planet. But one of them happens to be my best friend. My sister is nine years younger than me, but our bond is like no other. It's weird when you have such a huge age gap with your sibling. Sometimes you feel like their sibling, and other times you feel like their parent. But it's also one of the greatest bonds you could have.
Despite our nine-year age gap, my sister and I are SUPER close. We hang out at night and tell each other about our days. We have froyo dates. She tells me all the juicy seventh-grade drama. Sisterhood is one hell of a friendship.
But on a real note, I want to be someone she can look up to. Being the oldest child, I always wanted an older brother or sister I could go to for advice. It's so important to have someone older than you that you know you can talk to. Growing up, there are many things you can't exactly talk to your parents about. I wanna be that person for my sister. Someone she knows she can talk to about anything and everything, someone she can go to for advice, and someone who will always be there for her no matter what. Growing up is tough. Friends don't always stick by your side, but your sister always will.
Don't get me wrong, we still get on each other's last nerves. But how close are you really if you don't get into a fight or two? Friends are great and all, but there is no love out there like sisterly love. So go out there and give your sister a big fat hug, even if you occasionally want to slap her in the face.
