The best things God gave me were my older sister and younger brother. Even though back in the day it was rough, and we didn't like one another half the time, now we're close and would do anything for one another, and it will stay that way.
In our younger days, we would come home from school, and my sister and I would lock my little brother out of the house. We were mean, I know.
Sometimes, we would hold him down and put makeup on him, and he would probably hurt me if he knew I was saying this. Then all three of us would wrestle, and I would lose and always ended up crying.
Saying some of the rough stories from out childhood isn't so bad. We were never that mean to one another. We were children and that's what they do. And we had great times as children.
Going on car rides was the best with them. That meant we would get to have any soda we wanted. But, we would get one soda to split, so whoever sat in the middle got the most, and that was the best.
Another great memory is going to Paducah, Kentucky with our grandparents. We would make a special trip to Ryan's, and that place was the best when we were little. Our papa would make us just keep on going and getting food. And we sure did, and not so long after us leaving, I got so sick. I was a kid, so of course, I was going to keep getting the junk food.
Our middle ages got a little better. My sister and I played basketball with one another, and that was a joke. We both were too nice to be aggressive players, and she was just tall, skinny, and looked like a grasshopper. I, on the other hand, was a little chunkier and didn't ever want to run.
High school was one for the books. The years we all began getting closer. To help come up with a story to tell our parents that what we said we were doing wasn't actually what we were doing. Sorry, parents. Not to mention all the times we would have one another's back.
Now we're all in our twenties, and we've realized how much we need one another. These days, we're all on different schedules and are so busy.
My sister and I are still in college, but we will both be done sooner than we think. Now, she's not only my sister, but my best friend. The one I go to for advice, encouragement, and sometimes just a hug.
My little brother is my bubba. The one who will just make you smile because of his sweet dimples. He's strong and is such a good guy. He has our backs no matter what.
I don't know what I would do without my sissy and bubba. I definitely wouldn't be the same without them, for sure. They keep me going in life.
So, today, call your sister and brother and thank them. Even if you don't get along now, just appreciate them. God gave you a sibling, so enjoy it.
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.Ephesians 4:32
