To Sir, With Love

An open letter to the man who loves me next.

To Sir, With Love
Maud Chalard

Dear [insert name here],

I know this seems cliche, but this is one of the few ways that I will be able to tell you how I truly feel. First off, I just wanted to say thank you, for being the answer to my many journal entries and multiple prayers. I’m so thankful that you chose to have me in your life, I cannot thank you enough for that. Though I do have to warn you, there are a few things you may have to tolerate in order to be with me. Don’t worry, I’m not crazy, there are just a few things you should know, you see, to get to know the real me.

  1. Please have a sweet tooth!

I may or may not have mentioned that I have a knack for baking. Whether it be cookies, brownies or even cheesecakes, I can make you whatever your heart desires! Aside from baking, I do excel in cooking as well, so be prepared for an awesome three-course meal every night, well, maybe not every night, but most.

2. Always laugh, I beg of you…

Sometimes, but most likely a majority of the time, I will always find something completely random and find it absolutely hilarious. Occasionally, I may even find a clip from “The Office,” or some other ridiculous thing, or maybe even crack a “that’s what she said” joke. There are even times where I will be hysterically laughing at myself, whether it be something I did at that moment, or an event from five years ago. Trust me, it is still just as funny to this day. So if I try to explain, or show you said video, just give me a little something, even as simple as, “that’s great, honey…?”

3. Well, that’s awkward.

There may be times, out in public or even at something as small as a family gathering, where I may feel out of place. Trust me, I do attempt to get the ball rolling, but I am not the greatest at it. You see, I have this special skill to make people rather uncomfortable at times, hopefully you can understand that. Also, I should forewarn you that my honesty may come into play with this. I tend to speak, occasionally, without a filter, so please assure that I will not say something that will make me stick my foot in my mouth.

4. If you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.

Lastly, I will always have your back, and I hope you will have mine too. Even though sometimes, I may drive you crazy, whether it be from my indecisiveness to my weird lifely quirks, I pray that at the end of the day, you will always support me. I promise to you, that no matter what, even though it has to be realistic, I will always be there for you. I will be one of the best, and closest of friends you will ever have, and I hope you will be mine too.

To the man who loves me next, I cannot say thank you enough. You are truly amazing, not only for being you, but being the one who puts up with me too.

Love,

Your future girlfriend

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
