TREAT YOSELF

How To Be Single

So you're single. Oh how the tables have turned. From a consuming relationship, to now being on your own. Both a weird and strange feeling, but it is possible to get back to who you were before you were in a relationship. It takes time (Yes I know your mom probably told you that), but it is true. And, of course, you can follow these steps on how EXACTLY to be single.

1. Remember who you are

Reverting back to who you were before you were single is difficult. For such a long time you were consumed with another person, and eventually became so infatuated with the person, you lost sense of who you even were in the first place. Think back to the single life, what you liked to do, how you used to cope with things, never forget your roots.

2. FREEDOM

Congratulations! You are free to do what you please. You no longer have to answer to a significant other, which means not having to think twice about what you do, and how it will affect someone. Do YOU. Being single gives you the freedom that a relationship does not, take advantage of that.

3. Rely on Your Friends

You remember how last month you had to consistently cancel girls night because your significant other became a priority? Well now, I think it is time to announce to your friends how much you love them, and how much you regret putting them second. Friends and family are the only thing consistent during relationships. They won't let you down.

4. DO NOT GIVE IN TO THOSE LATE NIGHT EX TEXTS

You flawless butterfly you, it is inevitable that your ex will try to contact you, usually in the Drake hours. Take this advice carefully. DO NOT expose yourself to the toxicity. The relationship ended for a reason. Do not open up the scars that are starting to heal. You are single now, and your ex probably does not like the idea of guys flocking to your gorgeous self. Avoid Ex's at all costs. I promise, it will get easier to do.

5. Ignore the Perfect Instagram Couples

Trust me, do you really want to wish you were back in a picture perfect relationship? Because that "picture perfect" relationship was nothing but perfect. And you know that. So ignore those cute #mcm #wcw pictures.

6. Treat yourself

Remember all of the money you used to spend on your significant other! Welp, your income of money is about to go to something WAY more important. YOURSELF. In the great words of Aziz Ansari, TREAT YOSELF.

Now, take these advices, and call me in the morning.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
