The holidays tend to be a time where people get caught up with the idea that they need a significant other. It's the most "romantic" time of the year. But if you're single, you're in luck because I can not think of a better time to be single.
Self-love is the key to happiness and during the holidays you have been given the gift of time! Now is the time to get to know yourself better than anyone ever can. Are you a window seat kind of person? Do you get carsick from reading? Do you prefer running before or after the sun comes up? What annoys you? What drives you? What characteristic of yourself do you want to improve, what do you want to make even stronger?
The answers to these questions come from learning to truly love yourself. You have the opportunity to learn these little things, that will overall help you deal with any void or upset feelings you may be experiencing. You will without a doubt, discover that you are the only person you need- any time of the year!
Once you love yourself is when you really start living. You start to not care about the minuscule things like not having a boyfriend or girlfriend because life is worth so much more than that. You cannot truly live if you put your attention on something you cannot control. It's not your fault there aren’t any people that you have had interactions with that have lead up to you to a mutual romance. It didn’t happen, but it doesn’t mean it won’t. You are getting closer to your Mr. or Mrs. Right. He/she is out there somewhere and they are just dying to fall in love you. For now, fall in love with yourself and enjoy your time here on this planet.
So, congratulations! You get to spend this special time of year with someone special- you!
