Let's do this thing, girlfriend.

With Valentine's Day quickly approaching, you are either experiencing one of two emotions: pure excitement or sheer disbelief. Girls, not having a valentine isn't the end of the world. In fact, you should be using it to your advantage. Think of it like this: it's ONE day to show love, so why not take advantage of it and start showing yourself the love that you deserve?

1. Make yourself a nice breakfast.

Make it as unhealthy (or healthy) as you want. If you can't cook, take yourself out.

2. Take a bubble bath.

You deserve a break so soak it up while you can.

3. Buy the damn flowers for yourself.

Just do it. Even though they'll die eventually, take the cute Instagram pic and caption it, "Bought the damn flowers for myself." You're welcome.

4. Reward yourself with something you've been wanting.

There's nothing that makes you feel more confident than when your bra and underwear match. If you never splurge on lingerie, consider this the day to do it.

5. Watch Iskra Lawerence's TED Talk on body image and self-confidence.

Can't believe I met this woman (twice). I love you, Iskra, keep doing what you're doing, you're setting a great example for young women.

6. Go on a day trip to somewhere you've never been.

Because why the hell not? It doesn't have to be far, it can be the next town over. Get your Spotify playlist going and hit the road!

7. Take cute Instagram pics with balloons.

At least the decor is cute! If you want to dress up, invite your fellow singletons over and have a photo-shoot. It's about time your feed got more colorful, anyway.

8. Figure out what you want out of love.

I know you didn't want to hear it from me, but let's get real here-- it's TIME you decided what you deserve. No more fuckboys, no more excuses. Maybe you're just looking in all the wrong places for love. Maybe you shouldn't even be looking that hard. Good love will find you.

9. Turn on your favorite rom-com.

And order a heart-shaped pizza while you're at it.

10. Get some rest.

When it's all over, crawl into bed and catch some zzz's because you never get the full eight hours. It's hard being a strong, independent woman, isn't it?

gossip girl

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

As frustrating and annoying as it can be, being a girl is really awesome. We are beautiful inside and out. Not a lot of people may see that, but girls have a ton of amazing qualities.

We have unique flirting skills.

Us girls have a significant way to flirt with other people. Even when we say the most random or awkward things, we have a way of making everything sound cute and planned. It’s just a gift; we’re good like that.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
