Single Doesn't Always Mean Lonely

As Taylor Swift once said, "We're happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way".

Single Doesn't Always Mean Lonely
Final Reel

No one wants to be single, that’s a fact. Every one wants someone there to support them, be their partner in crime, and have that one person that will love them endlessly. I would definitely say I’m a relationship type of girl, but I don’t think relationships think the same of me and that’s okay. I think we’d rather stay single than deal with another f*ck boy that only wastes our time, am I right ladies? Or how about staying away from messy break ups? Pretty sure we won’t be missing out on those. But most importantly, we save ourselves the heartbreak over a guy who maybe never liked us half as much as we liked them. Honestly, being single is not all that bad. Yes, movies make it out that if you’re single, you’ll end up alone forever, but being single has its perks. Maybe it’s my cynical mindset, but being single doesn’t always mean being lonely.

1. "Treat Yo Self".

Being single means you have more time for yourself. Yes, that sounds totally selfish, but is it really? You can get things done on your time and do them exactly how you want them to be. It gives us time to give ourselves a little TLC, something I'm sure we're all in desperate need of. So, from the wise words of Donna Meagle and Tom Haverford of Parks and Recreation, "Treat Yo Self".

2. Going Out.

No boyfriend, no problem. Ah, the beauty of going out, flirting with whoever you want, and just having fun. To be totally clear, I'm not talking about getting with every guy you see, but going out when you're single allows you to let loose with your friends and making a few regrettable decisions are okay, whether boys are involved or not.

3. Endless Girl's Nights.

Hello wine nights! Boyfriends may come and go, but your girlfriends will always be there. Acting as a shoulder to cry on or just someone who you can vent to, your girlfriends will always find a way to make you forget about those messy break ups or terrible boys and remind you of the fun of GNO's.

4. More Time With Your Best Friend.

Most of us when we get into relationships are so fixated on the person we're with that we may forget about the one relationship that has been with us from the beginning and will stay with us to the end - our best friend. No one will know you better or have your back endlessly as they will and that's a fact. Find the Tina to your Amy, the Kendall to your Gigi, the Blair to your Serena and reconnect with the longest relationship you'll be sure will last forever.

5. The Freedom to be Unapologetically You.

In the end, being single helps you learn who you are. You'll be spending a lot of time getting to know yourself more than you ever have before. So make sure to grab yourself a cup of coffee (with a shot of cynicism, just like a true Gilmore Girl) and channel your inner Lorelai because being single is one of the best things that can happen to us. Your Luke Danes will come eventually, but for now, it's all about you.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
