Personally, the only reason why I can stand driving is the fact that I can belt with no external judgment. Through my voice cracks and the occasional attempted harmony
, singing in my car is essentially a part of my daily routine. While I am aware of the benefits it has on my mood, there are plenty of other health-related advantages to singing in the car.
1. Singing in the car releases chemicals that stimulate your brain.
Surprisingly enough, your brain releases chemicals including serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin to give you the feeling of a natural high. Singing in the car provides a free source of happiness and positivity on your way to school, work, and anywhere else you venture throughout your day.
Singing in the car boosts your muscular health.
No matter the quality of your voice, you utilize your lungs and chest muscles when singing (especially when belting). By consistently exerting force through these body parts, you are essentially giving them a workout which will make them stronger and healthier.
Singing in the car reduces the speed of brain aging.
By continuously exercising your brain with the memorization and learning of lyrics, your brain receives a workout which keeps it healthier for a longer period of time.
Whether you are professional singer or just a musical-advocate, singing in the car reduces stress and puts anyone in a better mood. Personally, I find that Broadway songs and ballads are the most fun to (attempt to) sing. I recommend creating a playlist of your favorite songs to belt and shuffling to get in the zone. My Spotify playlist is teeming with belt-worthy music, so you can check it out for examples.
