We all have those spontaneous moments of inspiration when we want to turn our lives around completely, right? Here is a few very easy ways to change your life without doing anything too extreme. So put down the blue hair dye and super expensive gym membership and take a look, unless you're super committed to that stuff.
1. Learn a new skill. It can be anything from learning to garden to picking up a new language or learning to cook. A new skill is an easy way to improve your feeling of self accomplishment, especially when it's a skill that might change your self image.
2. Get yourself organized. As annoying as it can be to write everything down and keep track of documents, it helps immensely. Keeping planners and lists, filing documents or even rearranging your work or personal space are some easy ways to do this. In the long run, organization will only be beneficial to you.
3. Make time for yourself, routinely. It's important to take time to do things that you love on a regular basis. Read a book, take a bath, listen to music or even take a nap. It provides you with a good way to relax and treat yourself, especially when you've had a stressful day or just need a break from whatever you're doing.
4. Unplug. This is mentioned so often, especially today in such a technology reliant world. However, it IS important. Taking time to be away from all technology is not only good for you and your personal health, but it's also good for the well being of your technology; even batteries need time to cool off.
5. Volunteer. Taking time from your day to help others is something incredibly simple, but it makes you feel spectacular. Doing things like mowing your neighbor's yard or serving at a soup kitchen or even spending time talking with people at the Old Folks' home are things that make a difference not only in your life, but others' lives as well.
6. Learn to be honest with yourself. It's easy to sugar coat things when it comes to yourself. "I shouldn't have yelled at him, but he initiated the fight so it's not my fault." "I'll just spend another 15 minutes on my phone, I had a big day and deserve this." Yes, treat yourself, but don't baby yourself. You're an adult and if you can be honest with others, you can be honest with yourself.
Those are just some simple things you can do to make your life a little better and brighter. However if you're still invested in dying your hair blue and becoming a crossfit champion, that's fine too.
