Even though it cannot be seen, the biggest reason for physical or mental illnesses is stress. Life becomes so fast-paced that we're always in a rush, and even a minor delay or failure generates stress.

It is absolutely true that, sometimes, some unavoidable circumstances make it hard to avoid stress, so it becomes very important to know about some stress-relieving techniques to keep it at bay as much as possible. Stress can have some serious side effects, not only on your mind, but on your body as well.

When a human body comes under stress, it starts releasing stress hormones. They affect each and every system of the body - the digestive system, respiratory system, the mental state, heart functionality, blood pressure, headache, stomach disorder, sex-related issues, etc. Everything.

So, today, I will talk about some stress-relieving techniques that are a must try for all, just take a look.

1. Meditate.

One of the easiest and most effective way of curbing stress is meditation. Only a few minutes per day can de-stress your mind and fill you up with positive thoughts. Just sit in a comfortable posture with your eyes closed, and start thinking that you are an all-powerful soul with positive things surrounding you. Tell yourself that you are a special being, with all the capabilities to manage anything in life. Work on your self-belief; believe that things are working in your favor.

2. Slow down a bit.

When stress levels increase, the body and the brain enter into a rushing state. Avoid this state to de-stress yourself. Try to focus on the present and what you are doing at the moment. Notice the things happening around you, the atmosphere, how the air feels on your face, feel the taste and texture of every bite of food you are eating.

Instead of rushing for what is coming next, start spending your time at the present moment. Your stress levels will start to decrease if you make it a habit.

3. Socialize.

Not socializing is also a major reason for increasing stress levels, as oftentimes we tend to keep our emotions and stress inside. Start socializing to avoid this problem. Talk to your colleagues and friends face to face, talk your heart out, discuss things and laugh with them. It will help you more than you think.

4. Exercise or do yoga.

Exercise and yoga are instant stress relievers, even a stretch during break time in the office can make you feel relieved. A daily routine of a 30-minute walk, light exercise, or yoga can surely help in relieving stress levels. So, go out and get some exercise or yoga essentials - such as a pair of comfortable sneakers or a yoga mat - and get going.

5. Laugh often.

Laughter is a great medicine for every illness. It not only maintains the right hormone level, it lightens the mental load and works as a mood booster. Laughter also works on the whole body, but in a positive way unlike stress, it helps to release those feel-good hormones that help you stay happy and positive for longer. So, try to get a good belly laugh as often as possible, maybe 3-4 times a day. It will not let stress come near you.

6. Listen to music.

Music works like a magical stress reliever. It lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety, it reduces cortisol (the stress generating hormone) and create a positive effect on mind and body. Just create a playlist with all the music you like,, and listen to it at least once a day to bust out that unnecessary stress.

Start practicing these techniques today to stay happy, healthy, and more productive. Always remember to love yourself, appreciate all the things you have, and spend time with family and friends. Most importantly, love and enjoy your life, as it is short and beautiful.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
