Go For A Run or Walk
Recommended for you
Personally, I’m not one to put on anything short of Eskimo clothes, let alone go outside during the winter months. However, it definitely relieves stress. It increases your heart rate, releases endorphins, and works up a good sweat. If you’re jittery or have nervous energy, this is one of the best ways to calm yourself, your nerves, and your stress.
Stretch
Along with the exercise idea, almost anyone can stretch, but this keeps you indoors. It might seem a little boring, but it still helps loosen up your muscles and release those endorphins. If you focus on your breathing, you’ll tune most everything else out. A 30-minute stretch period can help you feel more accomplished, relaxed, and loose to handle anything that comes your way. Tip: if you’re not one for silence, throw on a TV show and stretch during it – you won’t believe how quickly time goes!
Color or Draw
Yes, it’s a new fad that’s come into light within the past few years, but it seriously helps. There’s something about mindlessly filling in a picture with colors that you like that’s so pleasing. Even if you don’t want to purchase one of those coloring books with the intricate designs, draw a little picture. No matter how bad you might think it turns out, it’s a humdrum activity that will definitely help ease your mind.
Get Some Magnesium In Your Diet
I’m not one for actual dieting but increasing your magnesium intake can actually help with anxiety. If you don’t want to buy magnesium pills, try some magnesium enriched foods including spinach, bananas, almonds, yogurt, avocado, and even dark chocolate. More than just helping with stress, it has many other health benefits! Make sure to Google-search it if you’re weary.
Cooking or Baking
Some people feel that it’s just not their thing. However, with all of the cooking shows and everything out there today, it couldn’t be easier. Try some 30-minute meals or even some no-bake desserts that are so easy, you’ll feel like you can cook anything. Nothing beats you serving a food and having everyone tell you how amazing it is. Aside from that, it’ll give you a small amount of time to yourself, which will definitely calm your nerves.
Organize
Nothing is worse than feeling like you have so much stuff around and so many things to do that you’re not sure where to start. My go-to way to organize is to make a list. If that isn’t your thing, start with decluttering or cleaning. It’ll kick start your productivity and help you get on top of your workload. The hardest part of an activity or chores is actually starting them, but once you do, it’ll only help decrease your stress.
If you’re stressed during the holidays, don’t worry – you’re not alone! Make sure you’re enjoying your holiday season, but make sure you take care of yourself first. Good luck!
