Although sometimes we forget to make It a priority our own happiness is so important, if not the most important aspect to our lives. We sometimes get lost in trying to live our lives, and fit everything into our days that we forget to make time to take care and get to know ourselves. It's hard to think of anything more important than self love and taking care of our souls, yet we always seem to lose sight of it. As many of your summers are off to a start, take the time to remember a few things...

1. Start your day with a tall glass of lemon water.

I know how it goes, you're running late for work and you have no time to think about breakfast so you grab the first thing that comes to your mind, a large iced from Dunkin Donuts. But I challenge you to skip the caffeine fix, which can lead to anxiety and stressful moods, and indulge in a large iced water. It has been prove to allow you to feel more energized throughout the day, too.

2. Go for a nice walk to jump start your day.

Whether it be around your neighborhood or on the way to work, having some good old fashioned exercise will help you to feel happier and will put you in an amazing mood.

3. Sit outside with a book.

Getting some vitamin D while also feeding the brain through the works of literature will give you amazing vibes for the day. Try it out. Head over to the nearest book store or library and pick up a couple books.

4. Take plenty of pictures.

Somewhere along the lines, someone told me that pictures will remind you of your memories in a way like no other. It couldn't be more true. How amazing will It be when you can look back and remember exact moments by the image you see starring back at you. Take pictures. Everywhere you go.

5. No negativity.

Do you ever notice that you feel more free and less stressed when you stop hanging around certain people? Notice this. You deserve this. You deserve to feel free, all the time. If people are no longer serving you, let them go this summer.

6. Travel to a new place.

Take the time (and money) to travel to a new place that you've never been before. Seeing sights through your eyes, is one of the most rewarding experiences you can give yourself. Recommended to all.

7. Pamper yourself -- you deserve it.

After working day after day, you deserve to treat yourself to something nice. Ladies, buy that purse. Yeah, book that Mani- pedi. You need it. Gentlemen, watch the game on the couch with a cold beer in hand. You deserve that too. Relax.

8. Laugh a lot.

Be around people who cause you to forget about everything going on, and no matter how hard life may be, cause you laugh and laugh and laugh. Be around people who bring out the best in you, through just spending quality time with you.

9. Notice when you're the happiest.

Despite anything I have to say, notice when you are at your happiest. Recycle and recreate.

10. Know you have done your best.

At the end of every day, know that you have tried your very best and are living the life that makes sense and is good for you.

Don't compare yourself. Live in the moment and just be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
