Awwh, Thanksgiving break. A short break where almost everyone goes home. You see family, your dog, but what about friends? You want to see them all, but there is so little time. Here are some great ways to see your friends, and do something more than just watch Netflix.
1. Friendsgiving![](data:image/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20625%20407'%3E%3C/svg%3E)
What's the best way to see all your friends at once, plus be culturally correct? Have a friendsgiving! It’s kinda like the Friends thanksgiving mixed with the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving special. You don’t have to have turkey, but everyone should contribute something. Plan it at someone’s house, and there, you get to see all your friends even though you’re home for just a few days.
2. Black Friday shopping
Personally, I love Black Friday shopping. It's where I get my Christmas presents both that “Santa” will give me, and gifts for my friends. Grab a few friends, and hit up your favorite stores. Friends plus bargain deals? Sign me up!
3. Make a Secret Santa for Christmas
Everyone loves getting and receiving gifts, but no one wants to buy gifts for each of their 7 friends. It gets expensive, and the gifts are often…lackluster. Instead, rally up your friend group, put all your names in a hat, each pick out a name, and go shopping. Make sure to set a price maximum and minimum so no one is disappointed. Plus, if you want to get everyone something, you can spend a few dollars on mugs, candy, or fuzzy socks, and please your Secret Santa, friend group, and wallet.
4. Visit a nearby city for the day
5. See a show
Many counties have local theaters, music halls, and concerts. They are fun, keep you cultured, and as long as you are not going to a national symphony or Broadway show, are not that expensive.
6. Visit your old high school
Admit it, you like and miss some of your old teachers. Maybe you don’t miss the way the high school smells or the clothes you wore freshman year, *cringes* but I am sure you had at least one teacher you liked. Pick a day you’re off but the high school has school, and go in with some friends and visit high school coaches and teachers. You will have plenty to share, and so will they. Some even tell their own college stories. It's pretty cool.
So, while you may have between 12 to 5 days at home, you can see all your friends, and do stuff that is perfect for the season. Enjoy your break!
