A letter is weightless, yet it can move millions of cells in your brain, the most powerful organ in your body. I haven't received a letter in quite some time. The only thing close to a letter that I have received are from Sallie Mae, Chase Bank, and Victoria's Secret, asking me for money that I owe; but I mean a REAL letter. A letter that will uplift my day, or a letter that makes me feel loved. What ever happened to a love letter?
See, here's the thing: expression can go a long way. Unfortunately, expression relies often on the screen of your cell phone, and a "like" of a picture. But, holding a piece of paper that you can keep in a sacred place forever is much more meaningful than just looking at the screen of your phone. What happens when you save that letter on your phone and you forget to back up your phone on iCloud, and you lose the most powerful letter you've ever read in your life?
I want to receive a letter that will make me feel secure, whether it's from my significant other telling me how much I mean too him, or a letter telling me "we accept you!" Words, are so beautiful, and they are more inspiring when they mean something to you. Making someone else feel special through writing is breath taking. I remember all the emotions that rose up my spine, when receiving birthday cards or a sympathetic card from someone who loves me. The heat on my scalp rising, my cheeks burning, and my heart pumping ready to read the next few words that follow: it is almost like the feeling of winning a race. I crave those genuine motor neurons every day.
Letters go through a pretty long process. I mean, that's why they have such a huge impact. It starts from a genuine thought of wanting to make a difference in someone's day. Then, you physically brainstorm of all the memories in your life, and of the precious feelings that you felt towards someone, or even the bad. You think about the message you want to send to that selected person. After a whole thought process, you take the time to express your heart out. This is such a strong connection from one human being to the other. Sad to say, I miss this act of communicating to one's heart.
All I ask for is a letter. A simple letter with a few words, or a lot of words that make me feel special. To remind me that humanity and simplicity is still alive. It only takes a few simply words to inspire and make a difference. I think I know what my week shall consist of; pens of all colors, paper with pretty unique patterns, and postal stamps.
