All of us remember the Silly Bandz craze. Even the people who were anti Silly Bandz (how dare they) knew about the Silly Bandz craze. In middle school, just about everywhere you looked you saw wrists covered in these colorful, simply shaped rubber bands. Most likely, you were one of the souls who lived to collect them. If you were, these are ten things you know to be absolutely true.

1. Your wrists were always fully covered to the point you couldn’t see skin.

Your circulation was definitely partially cut off, but that was of no importance to you.

2. You bought a pack wherever you went.

Whatever store you went in, you were sure to scope out a new pack. Lucky for you, that was easy to do. Even grocery stores always had them in stock.

3. Trading was serious business.

Once again, I was never going to trade you my dragon for your hippo. It’s obviously a much “rarer” silly band. Get yourself together.

4. When one broke, you felt like a piece of your heart broke with it.

You probably looked at it in despair and tried to reconnect the ends to look at the beautiful shape one last time, and blamed yourself for not being more careful. How would you ever forgive yourself for this?

5. Your popularity increased with the amount of Silly Bandz you owned.

You had all the new cool packs before any of your friends. Let’s face it, you were the middle school trendsetter. Go you.

6. You got in trouble every time you accidentally flicked one across the classroom.

In your defense, twirling them with your index finger, middle finger, and thumb was irresistible. What you were most worried about wasn’t that Ms. ObviouslyDoesn’tOwnSillyBandz called you out, but that you might never see your precious seahorse again.

7. Silly Bandz Rings just never grew on you.

They weren’t comfortable to wear and they were pushing the Silly Bandz craze a little too far, even for you.

8. You laid out your collection to show your friends with pride.

You loved seeing your friends ooh and ahh over your prized collection. These were some of your middle school self’s proudest moments.

9. No matter how many you had, you weren’t willing to share.

Friend: “I’ve always wanted a red cat, and you have three.”

Me: “I know, but they’re a family. I hope you understand I can’t separate them.”

10. If it was socially acceptable for you to collect them again, you totally would.

You would love to be able to flaunt your favorite Silly Bandz again and see them in every store. Why did the trend have to end?

The day Silly Bandz became uncool was a sad day for us all. However, hope is not lost for us Silly Bandz addicts. Somehow, old crazes always have a way of coming back around again.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
