Signs You Know You're A University Of Redlands Bulldog

The summer months are quickly coming to an end, and considering Redlands to be my second home, I’m missing it and reminiscing more than ever today. The atmosphere, the people, the freedom and the memories: All are contributing factors that make me so fond of the University of Redlands.

You spend what most believe to be the best four years of your life living and learning on campus. You build close-knit relationships quicker than you thought were even possible and you fall in love with everything that the University has to offer. But, it is still so much more than that. When we look closer and can relate to the things that don't get shared on campus tours or in the catalogs is when we really, truly know we go to the University of Redlands. This is when we know we are Bulldogs.

1. You’ve stood at the admin building in between classes and taken this picture of the chapel.

2. You’ve gone out of control crazy when seeing Thurber, even though you're jealous he probably has better living conditions than you.

3. You know exactly what time of day the gym is crowded or not.

4. Intramurals are more competitive than you first thought they’d be, but you’re so into it.

5. You know when a night is slow that Pi Chi will always be open, and of course fun.

6. You know the secret menu at the Bulldog Cafe. Enough said.

7. You don't dare miss a $2 Tuesday.

8. You know someone or something important is on campus when the fountain is running. #drought

9. You will always be endlessly loved by Lucy and Carlotta, no matter what.

10. You have an endless amount of sympathy for those who have lived in non-AC dorms and consider them survivors.

11. You know or have heard about the pain and struggle that is...226.

12. You know exactly who you are going to see on your walk to class, and are prepared to say your hellos (even if last night was rough).

13. You know that May Term actually means "Play Term," and Beer Olympics.

14. You’ve complained about the commons food once or twice, or everyday, but know it's still better than most schools.

15. Hearing “SEA-HAWKS” being yelled on campus during off season is nowhere near out of the ordinary. In fact, it's totally normal. #GoHawks

16. You are on a first-name basis with Leslie Kraft, if you want good housing that is.

17. You know you probably shouldn't graduate without completing the infamous Chapel Run.

18. And you always know that even after you graduate, anyone on campus will be there for you because once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.

Even though we are all different in our own ways, we all have one thing in common; we share this beautiful school that is the University of Redlands. Always proud to be a Bulldog.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
