Signs You're Doing Better Than You Think You Are

Don't give up quite yet.

Signs You're Doing Better Than You Think You Are
Wowral

It’s really easy to get caught up in your own head and make yourself believe that you aren’t doing well. Everyday might feel like a struggle, you might wonder why you’re here and what you are supposed to be doing. However, I promise you that you are doing better than you think and here is how you know.

You’re always questioning yourself.

You’re always wondering if you are doing the right thing, making the right choices and doing the most perfect of the perfect things. Curiosity and questioning are signs of intelligence and questioning yourself means you are self-aware of aspects in your life and you are open to growth.

Someone broke your heart into a million tiny pieces.

Even with a broken heart, you love so hard. You are capable of loving and you are capable of being loved. Just because it didn’t work out with someone doesn’t mean you don’t have a chance at love again.

You have a job and/or you’re in school.

Even if you don’t love your job or are not sure about your major, you are trying and you are rocking it. Maybe it doesn’t look the way you want it to, but you are taking an active approach on being independent.

You’re not content with your life.

Uneasy feelings keep you awake at night, and the urge to be in a different place is real. These are the feelings you have to motivate you to make whatever changes you need to in your life. You have the courage to keep working.

You have one or two close friends.

Having several friends and looking amazing on Instagram is nice, but if you have someone in your life who you can talk to at 4 a.m. and they actually understand you as a person, you are lucky.

You’re working towards a goal.

Even if your dreams are years away, working toward a goal by going to school, or working and getting experience, is progress, and you’re making it farther than a lot of people thought you could.

You’re aware of what should change in your life.

Even if some aspects are out of your control at this very moment, you know what needs to change and you are thinking of ways to change them. This mindset is exactly what you need to keep moving forward.

You have lost relationships.

Whether these relationships were healthy or toxic, growing away and growing toward people means you are growing.

You have a roof over your head, clothes in your closet, and food in your cupboards and a place to sleep.

Not only having these things, but a surplus of these things means you’re doing well. Even if you don’t fine dine every night, wear brand names and live in a mansion, if you have a place to take a quiet nap and a sweatshirt to wear in the chilly autumn days, you are doing amazing.

You paid your bills this month.

One-month down is more time you have to relax until your bills are paid again. When your bills are paid you know that you have a stable source of money to rely on, and providing stability for yourself is one way you are doing better than you think you are.

You’ve been to hell and back.

You’re a fighter. You’ve been through some ugly crap in your life time, probably in the last couple months or years, but yet – here you are, fighting again. You look at challenges and yes you may dread them, but you’ve faced things you didn’t think you’d make it through and you came out to the other side.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
