Signs You're Doing Better Than You Think You Are
whicdn

Sometimes we get in our own heads and tell ourselves that we are falling behind or we tell ourselves that we are falling apart. It is easier for us to tell ourselves the negatives before the positives. When we tell ourselves the negatives, we don’t even look for the good that could come of the bad. Honestly, almost everyone feels this way, but the truth is, you’re actually doing better than you think you are.

Here are some of the signs that you are doing better than you think you are:

You have close friends

What more could you need than at least one, if not a few, close friends that you know you can count on 100% of the time no matter what. If you have these close friends in your life, you're set, you don’t even need too much more.

You’ve lost something important and you are still hurting

This shows that you know what is important and now you are able to realize how easily things can be taken. This shows you how quickly things can come and go and it just makes you savor the important things in life even more. You are hurting now, but you will heal. At least you have the ability to feel; you aren’t numb, that would be the tragedy.

You know what you don’t want

This is a huge step and something to definitely be proud of. This is the first step, if you know what you don’t want; you know you have to go in the opposite direction. Not knowing what you want can be one of the biggest blessings in disguise. You get to explore many different options, and the realm of possibilities out there for you are endless.

Some days you feel miserable

It’s okay to have some bad days. You have to have a bad day to realize just how wonderful a good day can feel. The bad days just make the good days better. You would never realize just how bright the sun shines if it was never covered by the clouds. The bad days just make you a stronger person in the end, so don’t let them get you too far down.

You don’t let pride get in the way of asking questions

How else would you learn? There is no way to know everything, and asking questions is the start to opening up the rest of the world. Don’t let what others may think discourage you from asking. There is no such thing as a dumb or stupid question, the only stupid thing would be to not ask. Open your mind, ask questions, and learn.

You didn’t get something you really wanted

As they say, when one door closes another door opens. If something wasn’t meant to be, then let it go. There is always going to be something better out there for you, you just can’t shut down as soon as the first door closes on you. Wait for that door to open.

You’re grateful for what you do have

Many times you never realize what you have right in front of you. Make sure to realize what you have every day. The things you do have will always be much more important than the things you don’t have, be grateful.

You’ve picked yourself up after challenges

Challenges make you stronger and what is even more impressive is the way you pick yourself up and brush yourself off after them. You know you’re a strong individual and you can always get passed any challenge that life throws your way. Always pick yourself up and keep pushing.

You take responsibility for your life

Sometimes this is much harder than you would think. Many people struggle with taking responsibility. By taking responsibility for everything in your life you are getting rewarded for all the good things that have happened. You are getting credit for everything that you have accomplished. You accomplish so much on a daily basis without even realizing it.

You didn’t get your perfect ending

So you didn’t get your perfect ending… who said it was actually the end? Some stories aren’t clear where the beginning, middle, and end actually are. If you truly believe this is the ending, then you are about to get something much better in the future. You can’t get yourself down on one setback. Life is about making the most of every moment, so make sure you are doing that. Each minute that passes by is 60 seconds that you will never get back.

You are not the same person you were a year ago

You are progressing, you are growing, and you are becoming a better person each and every day. You are shaping yourself into the person you were ultimately meant to be. Life is about evolving and changing; don’t get stuck in a rut. Keep changing. Keep getting better. Keep striving to become a better person.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
