There are many places that have different shifts that an employee can work; many times, this includes the infamous "overnight shift." Here are a few signs that you might work overnight shifts.
1. You are aware that you are a different breed of human.
2. Even on your nights off, you find yourself staying up until 4 a.m.
You just can't get yourself to fall asleep at a "normal" time.
3. Conversations change once day crew leaves.
Sometimes you find yourself having the most perverted conversation ever or one of the deepest, most meaningful conversations ever.
4. You work your a** off, despite what day crew says.
5. You have been trained on everything.
And you want to laugh at some day crew workers because they don't know how to do something so simple.
6. Going out after work is 12 hours too early for normal human beings.
Most people go out around 5 p.m., we go out about 5 a.m.
7. You get weird looks when you tell people what time your shift gets over.
8. You don't have a decent sleep schedule.
Some days you get 10 hours of sleep, and sometimes you only get three.
9. Most of your friends are your coworkers.
This is mostly just because most people can't keep up with your messed up sleep schedule.
10. You get the strangest customers.
Yeah, day crew may have a few stories about how "this one guy." But do they have stories about drug busts in the parking lot or drunk people? I think not.
11. You never know if you should say "today" instead of "tomorrow" when discussing plans.
Overall, you don't mind working overnight shifts. In fact, when you really stop to think about it, you might actually prefer it. There are less people and (slightly) less drama.
