A lot of people debate about the right and wrong time to leave a bad job.
Alot of people also woder if the grass is greener somewhere else, but to find out you have to take the risk. When beginning to make your decision you must ask yourself a few questions: are the problems at your workplace always going to exist, is it a problem within you, or a problem within the workplace itself, and maybe even try to weigh out the pros and cons of your job.
Here are eight signs that it's time to leave:
1. If you're unhappy most days that you work
Do you feel mistreated, bored, depressed, or just unhappy every time you enter work? If you experience any of these feelings almost every time you go to work then there is something seriously wrong! The most obvious reason that it's time for a change is how you feel about your work, co-workers, and job in general. Never ignore your feelings! It's okay to have bad days but if every day is a bad day then it's time for a change!
2. You're living the same days over and over
Maybe you've been at your job a long time and you still get the same crappy pay and the same treatment as the newbies! You work your butt off to learn everything that there is to learn; However, there is no reward for it and you still make the same pay as the people who just started! Why do the extra work if you don't make more money? This is a for sure sign that it's time to find somewhere that will understand your background and appreciate your skills.
3. There is no room for advancement
If you know you're stuck in a position that will always be the same and you have no chance of getting a raise or moving up in the company then it may be time to find a job that will allow you to grow. You know what you want in life, and if you want a guaranteed job and income then maybe a secure never moving job is for you, but if you want the chance to better yourself then time to switch companies.
4. There is way too much shuffling around
If managers seem to never last and most employees eventually leave, it is a big sign that the business itself may be in an unstable position. If a company can't seem to hire good reliable management then it seems to affect all of the employees causing more bad than good. This may be a sign that the unstableness of the company is affecting you and the way you do your job and is a sign telling you to move on and find a stable business to work for.
5. If you're just not making the Money you need
If you make minimum wage and it doesn't seem to be cutting it any more than it may be time to start looking for a job that pays a bit more. I'm not saying all other businesses pay better, But with experience, you will have a higher chance of hooking a job with better pay.
6. You lost your passion
In the beginning, when you started your job you absolutely loved it! You loved going into work, loved your co-workers, and loved the job itself. You had a continuing passion for the company and had a passion to learn as much as you possibly could, and now you've just gotten burnt out. Maybe you've learned all there is to know and it seems like no one notices, or even appreciates everything you do. You begin to dread going into work. You used to have such a passion for helping everyone in the company and you dont want to anymore, because no one seems to appreciate it. It seems to just be expected of you because that's how you were before. When you lose your passion it's time to relocate and find a job that you can be passionate about again!
7. Your personal life starts being affected
If you always leave work pissed off or stressed out and bring those burdens home with you then it's a for sure sign that it's time to move on. You should never have to bring your work home with you, instead, It should all be left at the office. Once you're off you shouldn't let how work went ruin the rest of your day. If this is happening then it's time to find a job that you don't constantly take home baggage from.
8. Your work environment is toxic
Maybe the way people talk to each other or the way customers treat employees is terrible and needs to change. This isn't a problem that can always be easily addressed. Maybe your work environment is hurting you, maybe the cruel things people say is affecting the way you think or maybe the way people around you act is affecting you negatively. If everyone you are around is causing trouble then it's a sign that you need to get out before someone gets you involved in it. Get out while you can! It's never good to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Leaving the security of a long term job may be a scary thing to do, but the grass may be greener on the other side. You'll never know unless you take the risk. If your job is terrible you may not have much to loose. Think about how the job is affecting you and decide when its the right time to leave. Never suffer or risk yourself and your feelings for a job that doesn't even appreciate you!
