Having a best friend in the military comes with very specific struggles. Here's a few of them:
1. You've had to invest in stamps and envelopes for a few months.
6 months without contact? I think not.
2. You've posted at least one collage wishing them good luck at boot camp.
As bittersweet as seeing them go off to pursue their dreams is, you can't help but post a sappy picture....or 6.
3. Waiting for boot camp to be over is the hardest thing in the world.
Even when they do write you back, you can't stand not seeing them.
4. Seeing them after months is one of the greatest reunions ever.
You can tackle them, they can take it.
5. Not knowing half of what they're saying when they come back.
So many military terms...
6. Learning a LOT about how the military works just from their stories.
You know it's bad when you can answer people's questions about the military and you have 0 interest in ever joining.
7. Dreading ever hearing the word 'deployed' come out of their mouth.
Nope nope nope.
8. Caring about the troops a lot more after you have one of your own.
You kind of turn into a cheerleader for them, and it's awesome.
9. Missing them like crazy when they leave.
As if the first time wasn't enough!
10. A phone call can never make you happier.
No matter where they are, just hearing their voice can make your whole day.
11. Worrying about world politics because you want them to be safe.
Nothing scares you more than the thought of them in danger.
12. Being put at ease because they're total bad asses.
Those months at boot camp weren't for nothing! They got this.
13. Being unconditionally proud of them.
No matter how much you worry or stress about them, they're your best friend and they're doing something incredible.
