9 Signs That You've Found Your Best Friends
Happy Valentine Day

These are your people. They are your home away from home. They care so much about you and know you almost too well. They are there through the tears, wiping eyes after a heartbreak, and crying with you when we get into laughing fits.

1. They include you in their plans, almost automatically.

Getting that text saying "We are going to Chipotle at 6 because I know you love it" means that they are thinking about you, and taking you into account as they make their plans. It's like you are an essential part of their life.

2. They can cheer you up like nobody else can.

These are the people that can make you laugh through the tears. They may even joke about whatever it is that has you down, but they do it in such a way that makes you smile and makes it seem not so terrible.

3. They drive you or with you just because you asked.

Whether you need to pick up a prescription, stop by the bank, go grocery shopping or, if you just need to get away from your roommate(s), you know that you can count on them to tag along. They will even help you choose your shampoo, and will never forget to throw in a candy bar because they know you'll need it.

4. They get you home safe.

You feel safe going out with them, because you know that no matter what, you will probably make it home in one piece. You know you can call them in the middle of the night if you're lost or don't want to walk home alone, and they will be there.

5. They listen to you complain about your biology class, for the hundredth time today.

Even though they know how much you hate it, they will not only sit there while you complain, but they will empathize with you. You can vent to them about anything, knowing that they will always listen, and, most of the time, they'll even take your side.

6. They keep you on track with your goals, even though you might hate it.

They will wake you up because you insisted that you wanted to start working out in the mornings. They make sure you are actually studying, not just texting with a textbook open because they want you to get the A you clearly deserve.

7. They help you do the most unappealing tasks.

You know you found a keeper when they volunteer to help you move out of your very cluttered freshman year dorm or help you clean up puke and other bodily fluids from your clothes.

8. They try to keep you from doing dumb things you both know you will regret.

They erase his number from your phone because they know how much you hurt yourself when you text him. They stop you from drunk calling him (and sometimes your parents...).

9. They remind you of your worth.

When you are complaining about how fat some dress makes you look, or how stupid you are because you got a D again, they argue with you. They tell you how amazing you are, and remind you how much you mean to them, because, let's face it, you would do the same for them.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
