More so, these are signs that you have grown up some.
Unfortunately, even though our education system is as expensive as ever, people still have hard times finding careers in the field that they studied through college. People graduate and still do not have strong bearings for what they want to do nor what they truly want to accomplish and finding purpose in their lives and work.
Thank God there is more purpose in life than doing what the world "expects" of us. What's the fun in following exactly what the world thinks should happen?
Nevertheless, there is a sense of pride in having successes and progression through the duration of one's college career. Our system should be giving us at least that much. Regardless of all the outcomes, here are some things that will show you are not simply gliding through your schooling, but instead thriving.
1. Finding and following your motivation.
My motivation? Is and always will be my faith in God- a peace that surpasses understanding, no matter how life proceeds.
You will need something or even multiple things in your life to put your mind and body in a sense of ease. As you pursue a degree, pursue a lifestyle in which you are proud to claim as your own. And do not settle.
2. You do not stop striving.
To strive after short and long-term goals, you must set them. Talk short-term/long-term to yourself, to an advisor, to family, a friend or all the above and reflect on what it is you have learned and are learning- how will these tools be used? How do you want them to be used?
3. You talk your talk.
You're not just reiterating your parents' or prefessors' talk, but you are applying it all to you and making it your own. You are breaking away from the kid style of soaking in everything you're told and choosing your own path and lifestyle.
4. Anxiousness and worry are now motivators.
It is hard to simply grow out of anxious thoughts, but as an adult, you can realize that this can only steal time away from you. You've made it this far, so why continually focus on the things out of your control or things that are uncertain. You can only take matters into your own hands for so long before you know time will tell the rest.
5. You handle scenarios differently.
You're not a kid anymore and know how to take matters into your own hands when necessary. You won't let people push you around or naively influence you.
6. You can fill out your own paperwork.
This is my personal favorite. My sister was close to call mom for help on filling out health form paperwork for volleyball until I realized I knew all the information myself and didn't need mom's help (no offense, mom).
7. You reflect more than ever.
More than being a sponge, now everything is censored. You listen to extremists and see the world around you. Now, you have the capacity to choose how to respond, what you allow to change and effect you.
Congratulations on adulting.
