Feeling awkward is natural at this point.

5 Signs That You Are Not A "People Person"

There are always some people that get along with other very well; we call them "people-persons." However, where there are "people-persons," there are also non "people-persons." These people just can't get along with everyone they encounter. They hate the thought of encountering and making conversations with people that they aren't close to. I am one of these people and I think, at this point in my life, that I will always be one. I've come up with a few things that a non "people-person" does to avoid human interactions.

1. You'd rather stay at home.

A non "people-person" would rather stay at home than go out and risk the chance of human interaction. The safe haven for a non "people-person" is his / her home. There, you never have to encounter a single stranger and / or interact with them.

2. You take the long route just to avoid people.

This is something that everyone does once in a while. However, a non "people-person" does this all the time. They would rather walk an extra five minutes than go through a crowd of people that they know or have to interact with (even if it's just to say "excuse me").

3. You plan escape routes to get out of confrontations.

Similar to the last sign, everything a non "people-person" does is planned in advance. Hundreds of escape routes are running through one's minds as to how you can get of these confrontations.

4. Your "bitch" face is always present.

To avoid interacting with people, the "bitch" face is the way to go; using this lowers that chance of people trying to talk to you. This method means that you can avoid the oncoming awkwardness that is bound to happen while interacting with people.

5. You always feel awkward talking to strangers.

It's safe to say that a non "people-person" avoids confrontation, not because he / she doesn't particularly like people, but because he / she wants to avoid the awkwardness. They don't and won't ever feel comfortable talking to strangers where they can't be themselves just yet.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
