12 Signs You're Plagued By Post-Summit Depression

Summit California has changed my life in countless ways, both as a student last year and as a staffer just a few short weeks ago. The two week conference creates an incredible community where relationships are built with students from across the world as they learn about apologetics, cultural issues and the Christian faith. It truly is an experience unlike any other. I've only been home for a little over a week, but I am still currently suffering from Post-Summit Depression, as I know so many other staffers and students are as well. If you or a friend are suffering from multiple of the below symptoms, you may also be struggling through this plague.

Also, almost all of these photos were taken by my ever lovely coworker Natasha Smith — check out her photography page on Facebook!

1. You miss the days when terms like "worldview" and "apologetics" came up in everyday conversation.

Let alone discussing them with Dr. Jeff Myers

2. You're not used to living in the same building as the food.

It's kind of nice not having to wait in line behind tons of people for it, though.

3. You miss having a daily activity planned for you and your friends to participate in.

Speed volleyball just isn't as common in day to day life.

4. Your life lacks daily skits put on to explain said daily activity.

I miss laughing through practices with the Caltiviteam family.

5. You're experiencing Huntington Beach withdrawals.

How beautiful was it?

6. You wonder why nobody in normal life is saying "suh brah" every five minutes.

Seriously, why isn't that met with a more positive response back home?

7. Where are all the Save The Storks shirts?

If you haven't heard of this incredible organization, you need to check it out here.

8. You've been non-stop Snapchatting all the friends you made in California.

And you've got solid Snap streaks going with several of them.

9. You're counting down the days until the next time you get to swing dance again.

Swing dancing on top of the parking garage after graduation? One of the best memories of the conference.

10. You miss the people with cameras being around to document the coolest parts of your day.

Some of them even made that amazing video of the conference to show everyone back home.

11. You long for just one more small group time with strangers who have become family.

I know I sure miss my beautiful ladies.

12. You miss your seat. You know, the one that you've spent 60+ hours sitting in, listening to world-renowned Christian speakers.

Perhaps one of the hardest goodbyes there was. Ugh, writing this just made me sad and miss everyone all over again. Summit CA 2016, you were so good to me. Until next year, pals, two words: two weeks.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
