Growing up in Cincinnati, every high school student is always asked the infamous question: "What school do you go to?" With so many high schools in the area, your school said a lot about you. Like many, I am proud to claim Lakota East as my alma mater. Here are some things that many Thunderhawks will remember!

1. "Goooooooood Morning Lakota East High School!"

Morning announcements definitely woke you up. Even if only for a little bit.

2. Main Street

AKA: The gateway to everything.

3. Nerf Wars

While not sponsored by the high school, this was definitely an activity that brought students together throughout the community for some fun and constant paranoia for a couple of weeks.

4. "The Other School"

Put out the fire. Wuck Fest. Crosstown Rivals. However you say it, just beat them for the bragging rights we all crave.

5. The Cafeteria

It was amazing if you could get your food and find a spot to eat before lunch was over. Finding a spot in the cafeteria is basically equivalent to the purge... anything goes.

6. #EastGivesBack

Lakota East always made the community feel welcome within the school and paying it forward. The spirit was always high when young athletes would get to join the field, or students were supporting a cause. Above students are all rocking orange to support The Dragonfly Foundation.

7. Senior Pants

A rite of passage for any senior girl. Every Friday, ladies.

8. Spark Magazine

Some may call them a cult, but they are some of the best writers from our school. It was always exciting to see if you were in this months issue and see what was going on within the community!

9. The Lip Dub

One of Lakota East's proudest moments. The students and community came together to raise money and awareness for Spina Bifida. Students from National Honor Society came together with the idea to create a Lip Dub to achieve this task. The video went viral and will go down in Lakota East's history! Click here to watch it!

10. E.A.S.T. GO HAWKS GO!

Did you even have school spirit if you didn't know that chant by heart?

11. The Hawks Nest

The best student section there ever will be. Be prepared for hours of standing on bleachers and to tackle each other during the banana chant. Just one question: Which senior will have the whiteboard tonight?

12. Parking Spots

Your parking spot could determine whether you would have a good or bad school year based off how far you have to hike to the front door.

13. Deputy Doug

Seeing him was either really good or really bad. There was no in between.

14. Senior Car Show

The day where underclassmen get to come out and see how good or bad the senior class decorated their cars. There will definitely be construction workers, a Hawaiian theme, and a grill of some sort. Maybe someone will even bring a pool!

15. H.A.C.

Parent: "What grade did you get on your test?"

Student: "I don't know, we won't get them back for a couple of weeks."

Parent: "That's funny because on H.A.C. it says you got a D-."

16. Eastside Pride

The best kind of pride there is.

Whether you are still a student, or graduated many years ago, Lakota East is always in our hearts. I'm thankful to have graduated from one of the best schools around and to have such fond memories when I look back on my high school experience.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
