Middlesex is definitely a one of a kind town. We may fight with each other, but it is because we are a family and only family fights with each other. Whether you say you love the town or you hate it, there will always be a special place in your heart for the town you grew up in. We may be small, but we are mighty! Once a blue jay, always a blue jay.

1. You have to correct everyone from saying you're from "Middlesex County" to the small town IN the county.

"Oh, I live in Middlesex County too! What town?" "No. Not the county, the town inside the county."

2. Everyone knows everyone, and if you don't know someone I am sure your mom or dad went to school with their parent(s).

Even if you just say a name at the dinner table, odds are your parents will say they know them from school... everyone always comes back.

3. The "Friday night football games" are rescheduled to Saturday morning because we still do not have lights for the field.

Even though Friday night football games are fun, we make the Saturday ones our own tradition (we still really need lights though, it has been too long.)

4. Finals week in high school consists of daily trips to bagel bistro & dunkin' every.single.morning. (or every other day for that matter).

Pretty much everyone would walk into first period late, but always had a coffee in one hand and a tray for their friends in the other, it's a lifestyle don't judge.

5. Out of the MANY pizza places to choose from, everyone has their favorite and they are always loyal to that one.

I won't even get into this, it is too controversial and people from Middlesex do NOT mess around when it comes to pizza.

6. Every spring, a weird carnival comes to town.

Let's face it, we all know it is sketchy beyond belief, but we still all go and get fried oreos and cat on a stick. It's just what we do.

7.You really can't go anywhere without seeing someone you know.

Even just driving down the road you are bound to see someone you know, yeah, we are THAT small.

8. You're graduating class was significantly smaller than other towns.

I mean I'm not complaining! We had a fast graduation!

9. We take Memorial Day Weekend VERY seriously.

Most towns go down the shore for prom weekend, not us. MDW boiii.

10. You never miss the Thanksgiving football game.

It is the biggest rivalry game of the year against our sworn enemies... DUNELLEN (who ironically wears crocs...)

11. Applebee's half price apps. Enough said.

It has gotten to the point where you don't even need to see a menu because you already know what you want. We take it seriously.

12. Writing your name in the cement is a right of passage.

Right before graduation, the whole graduating class writes their name in the cement and it is nice to go back and see your name there and look back on the memories.

13. You always come back.

Even if you spent every day hating this town, once you leave for college you find yourself missing it more than ever.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
