11 Things You Know All Too Well If You're Dating A Capricorn Girl

Capricorns are truly one of the most driven astrological signs. I should know... since I am one. We stop at nothing to achieve our goals, and we dream big... like really big.

We tend to live on the serious side of life, but we can also crack a really good joke and appreciate a good sense of humor. Serious yet sensitive AND funny... the package deal of a lifetime!

Here are 11 things you definitely know to be true if you're so lucky to be dating one of us!

1. Their serious nature is actually a plus.

Capricorns are serious people, but that also means we take relationships seriously, too! We're not in this for a good time, we're in this for the long haul.

2. They like compliments.

Just because we have our entire life plan mapped out until the day we die doesn't mean we are overly confident in ourselves. We like compliments, so give us all the "you can do this, you're so smart" compliments out there!

3. Tried-and-true date spots are your only date spots.

I tend to live a bit more on the adventurous side than most Capricorns, but most of them will not want to try a new restaurant. Take them to "the place."

4. Witty comebacks are a crucial part of any conversation.

To be honest, I don't know why this is, but I have yet to meet a Capricorn who doesn't like a good, witty comeback.

5. They work hard, but they also play hard.

Capricorns notoriously work so hard on their career goals and ambitions. Ever heard of a five-year plan? Well, most Capricorns have a 75-year plan. When they take the time to have fun, though, they're a lot of fun! Most Capricorns have an activity or interest they consider to be fun, and it brings out a whole new side to them!

6. If you see their emotions, they trust you.

Dating has lots of phases to it, but once you get to truly know a Capricorn, we'll let our seemingly non-existent emotions show. We do have emotions, it's just an exclusive club of who actually gets to see them.

7. They're independent creatures.

On the flip side of this, if we're actually deciding to date you, we definitely like you. We'd be fine being the crazy cat (or in my case, dog) lady for the rest of our lives, so if we decided to give you a shot, you're obviously a high caliber person.

8. They have their rules... and stick to them.

If you can't handle a Capricorn's standards, to this I say, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out." Yeah... that's not going to work.

9. They thrive on routine.

If you FaceTime every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. sharp, they're going to wonder what is up if you didn't call until 9. On the other hand, though, they're rational and understanding so they'll be fine with a simple explanation.

10. They love old-school things.

Did somebody say there is going to be a 1920s themed night at the restaurant down the street? Well, if they did, your Capricorn wants to go.

11. They're down to go out or stay in.

If you had a long week, that's OK with a Capricorn. They love staying in or going out.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
