Signs That You’ve Been Bit By The Holiday Bug

Help, I’m on the couch watching Hallmark and I can’t get up!

Some people tend to feel and spread the Christmas cheer earlier than others. Think you're one of them? Here are some tell-tale signs to see if you, and/or the people you know have been bit by the holiday bug.

1. Christmas tune cravings

It's easy to judge someone based off of their playlists. If yours is chock full of Christmas songs, you're likely filled to the brim with Christmas cheer, too.

2. You feel the need to bake

Cookies for Santa (just kidding, we know they're for you).

3. It’s already too cold for you to think straight

If you have trouble making it through late fall weather, your low weather immunity will also make you more suspect to being afflicted with Happy Holiday syndrome before the snow even begins to fall.

4. You’ve busted out scarves and wool hats

This goes along with number three. Obviously, if you're dressed to the nines for Antarctica, you're also dressed to go sleigh riding.

5. Hot chocolate on the regular?

Hot chocolate: #JustWinterThings.

6. Your friends are starting to get fed up with your red-and-green spiritedness

If your friends are beginning to avoid you, check your holiday spirit before you check for B.O. or bad breath.

7. You’re watching Hallmark Christmas movie marathons

Watch out: if you watch one cheesy, heartwarming Christmas movie on TV, you're definitely going to be glued to the couch for the rest of the day, at least.

8. The great indoors

Spending lots of time indoors? Decorating, sitting by the fireplace, sipping hot chocolate--whatever you're doing, the more you stay indoors, the more likely you are to catch the holiday feels.

9. Every time you go shopping, you’re on “gift mode”.

What was once a trip to buy some detergent at Target has become a hunt for the perfect gifts to give to your close friends and family.

10. Sappy sentiments

Hugging people excessively? Playing Baby, It's Cold Outside and trying to duet with your best friend or significant other? You're definitely in the spirit!

11. You’ve reverted to your blanket-carrying, four-year-old self

If you've taken to bundling up in a blanket when you go from place-to-place, no one will judge you. You have an excuse: you're sick with holiday spirit!

12. You’ve taken a step into Bath and Body Works

The minute you enter this store, or a store like this, where Christmas scents and aesthetics are permeating your every pore, give up! At this point, all hope is lost.

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
