Siena College Graduation Bucket List

A list of "must-do's" before graduating

Siena College Graduation Bucket List

If you're anything like me, the “G” word is creeping up a lot quicker than you want it to. And yes, I mean the awful word also known as GRADUATION. No one wants to hear you talk about it, yet it’s all we seem to talk about. With 5 weeks left, it seems impossible to ignore. Graduation is on its way, and there’s nothing we can do about it. Before graduating though, think about all of the things you said you wanted to do 4 years ago; have you done them all? If not, make a bucket list and don't hold back. My list is still growing with only a month left. As a Siena student, here’s a list of suggestions to put on your bucket list, and trust me you won’t regret it!

33. Draga (drunk saga)

34. Day drink and participate in a case race/beer olympics/around the world

35. Sleep in the dugout

36. Hookup at a random place on campus

37. Drink/tan on the roof of your townhouse (without getting caught by PS)

38. Participate in Sienafest/go to all of the concerts

39. Sneak into the townhouses during Sienafest/senior week

40. Park in faculty and then try to appeal your ticket

41. Celebrate every holiday with your friends

42. Have a wine night with your friends

43. Go to WTs for dollar beers (if you're brave enough)

44. Stay in one weekend and catch up on sleep (or binge watch Netflix)

45. Go on Spring Break

46. Crash a formal (open bar)

47. Visit your old dorm rooms (and shotgun with the people that live there now)

48. Participate in Senior week

49. Take lots of pictures (you'll be happy you did 10 years from now!)

50. Wear your cap and gown proudly at graduation (and try not to cry)

Whether you're a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior, make a list and start crossing things off! One day you'll look back and remember each and every memory you made in college, and you'll thank yourself for making this list!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
